High risk of Crime for Transit Owners

Lincolnshire Police have recently warned drivers of high levels of vehicle crime targeting Ford Transit owners.

The police force took to social media to inform people that ‘an unknown method’ was being used by criminals to break into and steal a number of Transit vans in the area. All vans involved in this recent spate of thefts have been taken overnight before being driven to remote rural locations, having their engines removed and being burnt out. Lincolnshire Police have warned Transit owners to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour witnessed.

This comes after a YouTube video posted last year shows just how easy it can be for thieves to break into a Transit with minimal effort. Even a quick Google search can be enough to give criminals the knowledge needed to gain access to your van – searching “how to break into a new Transit” yields over 1,000,000 results.

The original video has been viewed over two million times

It is now more important than ever to ensure your van is not relying solely on its factory-fitted locks. Upgrading to Thatcham approved DeadlocksSlamlocks or Rep-locks can be the difference between your van being safe and you becoming another victim at the hands of criminals.
