Ratchet Strap
A Ratchet Strap, also known as a tie-down strap or cargo strap, is a device used for securing and fastening cargo during transportation. It consists of a webbing strap and a ratcheting mechanism that allows for easy tightening and secure holding of the cargo.
Ratchet straps are typically made of durable and high-strength materials such as polyester or nylon webbing. The webbing is designed to withstand heavy loads and resist abrasion, UV rays, and weather conditions. The ratchet mechanism is usually made of steel or other strong metals, ensuring reliability and longevity.
The ratchet mechanism is the key component of the strap. The ratcheting handle, release lever, and drum or spool wind the webbing, making up its components. The handle allows for quick and controlled tensioning of the strap, while the release lever enables easy loosening and removal of the strap.
To use a ratchet strap, you typically attach the hooks or end fittings at each end of the strap to anchor points on the vehicle or cargo rail. Once attached, you use the ratchet mechanism provides leverage, allowing you to achieve a high level of tension and secure the cargo tightly. The ratchet handle locks in place, preventing the strap from loosening during transportation.
